In February 2021, FATS assisted our client from France with the importation of 3 out of gauge units as breakbulk and open top containers for a site expansion here in Durban.
The breakbulk shipment consisted of 320 cbm with weight of 33mt and arrived by project cargo vessel into Maydon Wharf Quay on the 18th of February 2021.
Offering a very personal service FATS provided daily tracking of the cargo from load port to arrival in Durban. The FATS team coordinated the discharge of the 3 breakbulk items from ships to abnormal load transport with all parties concerned from the Port Agency, Terminal Operators and Transporters.
The timing was crucial as the cargo arrived at night and as cargo was placed on deck, these had to be discharged first to avoid any additional time for the vessel to stay in port.
The cargo was discharged seamlessly with ships gear onto the abnormal trucks, with final delivery to the customer’s site the following morning without occurring any additional costs.
The open top containers arrival too was synchronized from the vessel arrival at Durban Container Terminal to the customers site as per the scheduled program.
